Lloyd van Konijnenburg and Mark Philpott volunteered to run 7 miles, 7 days in a row to raise money for a charity which is close to both of their hearts. They ran a total of 49 miles to support the If U Care Share Foundation.
If U Care Share is a foundation which was set up in 2005 and supports individuals who are tackling emotional and mental health issues with the aim to prevent suicide – they also offer support and guidance for the families of individuals of whom it is too late.
Both Lloyd and Mark are incredibly grateful to everyone for their support – with donations coming for as far as the United States of America. They have shared their journey in a bid to raise further awareness of the If U Care Share Foundation:
Day 1 (10/06/2018): Sunday marked the start of our challenge; Lloyd choose the picturesque route of Newburn to Wylam and was joined by friends for the last 3 miles. Whilst Mark geared himself up for the #WTSLeeds Triathlon event – recording his personal best time of 2 hours and 23 minutes.
Running total at the end of Day 1: £510.00
Day 2 (11/06/2018): Monday saw the first of early morning for both Lloyd and Mark. Lloyd returned to Newburn and completed the same route in a marginally faster time. Mark, who set an alarm for 5:30am, completed his run around South Shields.

Day 3 (12/06/2018): As the aches and pains set in; Mark was once again the first to start – completing the same route as the day before but this time tracking a marginally faster time. Lloyd chose to split his run, completing 4.7 miles before work and later joining a close family friend, and our youngest volunteer, to complete his 7 miles for the day.
Running total at the end of Day 3: £560.00
Day 4 (13/06/2018): Both runners are pleased to be passed the halfway point; Lloyd chose to split his run and was joined by Physiotherapy Matters for the last 2.5 miles. Mark, who ventured to London, recorded his fastest time of the week.
Running total at the end of Day 4: £630.00
Day 5 (14/06/2018): Both runners are pleased that the end is in sight; Lloyd braved the yellow warning for wind (issued by the Met Office) and ran early in the morning. Mark who was on annual leave in London, ran 2 laps of The Regent’s Park.

Many thanks to Gill Reay who kindly baked some cakes to help raise further donations.
